About the Doula

Hello! My name is Amber Zrust. I am a practicing Doula in the Illinois Valley area (50 mile radius of Ladd, Illinois). I am birth Doula Certified through Birth Arts International, a certified Hypnobirthing Doula, as well as a Lamaze trained Child Birth Educator. I am a mother of 4 - ages 14 to six! My husband graduated with a 4.0 from Hamline University after studying to be a history teacher. I have a passion for birth, babies and breastfeeding that started with the need to take back my own births. 

After experiencing my own birth trauma with my second son, I knew that there had to be a better way. There was. As a doula I now take these same hopes for myself, to each mother. I believe each woman should get the support they need during pregnancy and birth, have a place to feel loved and safe, and feel powerful and in control of their birth. In my time as a doula I have experienced many different births, supporting each woman individually, but equally. 

I support all families and feel comfortable in any environment from home birth to cesarean, and am confident that my presence can help the family in any situation. Recently, I became a trained Lamaze Childbirth Educator, as well as a Certified BAI Doula and am currently training in Bereavement Support, as well. I have a love for photography and have really enjoyed adding Birth Photographer to my repertoire.

When I am not supporting families at their birth, I can be found at home sewing, editing and taking photos, designing fabrics and going on family adventures.
